What many families worry about is not "whether it will work," but "how much leave to take and where the process gets stuck." The timeline below helps you form an overall expectation (individuals will vary).

试管全流程时间线示意

Stage 1: Pre-Departure Preparation in China (about 1–2 weeks)

Completing baseline tests, medical-record translation, and an initial plan review before departure can significantly shorten your stay abroad. Some communication can be done remotely.

Stage 2: Ovarian Stimulation (about 10–12 days)

The physician prescribes medication according to your individual protocol, monitoring follicle development via ultrasound and blood levels. Most monitoring can be done locally, and some results can be shared remotely with your attending physician.

Stage 3: Egg and Sperm Retrieval and Fertilization (1-day procedure + several days of culture)

Eggs are retrieved under anesthesia, with sperm collected the same day; fertilization and blastocyst culture then follow. Whether to perform PGT will affect the subsequent testing and freezing schedule.

Stage 4: Transfer and Luteal Support (transfer day + about 14 days of waiting)

Once the embryo meets the criteria, transfer is arranged, followed by luteal support, with a pregnancy test about two weeks later. The overall medical stay is usually several weeks, depending on the protocol.
